ANNA MASON
With her unusual use of close-up and composition Anna takes a fresh and contemporary approach to botanical painting and is fast turning into one of most exciting artists working in the field today. The vibrancy and luminosity of her paintings, as well as a strong palette and attention to detail, are what sets Anna's work apart from more traditional pieces and she aims through her work to give the viewer time to contemplate the beauty inherent in the natural world.
Anna lives in rural West Sussex surrounded by the lush English countryside. She is entirely self-taught and exhibited for the first time in 2007 when she was awarded a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal and Best Botanical Artist in Show for her series of paintings of the apple tree 'James Grieve'. Anna's work is held in the collections of Dr Shirley Sherwood, one of the world's foremost collectors of botanical paintings, and the R.H.S. Lindley Library and she exhibits each year at the Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows. A book of Anna's paintings, The Modern Flower Painter, will be published in 2014.

2011 Grand Prize Winner in International Artist Magazine for 'Strawberries Everest'
2007 R.H.S. Gold Medal and Best Artist in Show Award for series of 20 paintings of the apple tree 'James Grieve'
2006 R.H.S. Dawn Jolliffe Botanical Art Bursary
Anna has recently changed her last name from Knights to Mason.
