ANGELA HUNTER
Angela was born in Galashiels and is currently living in Innerleithen with her husband and fellow sculptor Brunton. Angela graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1999 with a B.A. in Sculpture and since then has worked on many commissions as well as taking part in gallery shows. Her favoured medium is bronze, making small works in wax and larger pieces in plaster and clay for casting in bronze or bronze resin.
Angela sculpts both the human and animal form and is probably best known for the hugely successful Penguinicity series. Her bronze penguins have been so popular that Dundee Council commissioned Angela to create a set of five walking along the wall by the City Churches in the town centre.
Other commissions include a life-size bronze of a man wrestling a bull for the Turnbull Society, a series of animal sculptures for a wildlife walk in East Lothian and 'Girl on a Suitcase', capturing the heyday of the Clyde as a tourist destination. Angela shows regularly in annual exhibitions with Visual Arts Scotland, Paisley Art Institute and the Royal Glasgow Institute, winning several awards over the past few years, and her work sits in prominent private collections throughout the U.K.
