WILLIAM FOYLE

'William Foyle is fascinating and his future wants watching'.

Sir Timothy Clifford, former director of the National Galleries of Scotland

One of the delights in life is to discover young talent and watch its development. William has a commitment and obsession for painting which I am sure will bear 'fruit'. [His work] is full of ambition and energy'.

Terry New, Head of Fine Art at the Royal Academy

'I paint every day, without exception. I become absorbed in my paintings, and find myself captivated by my next painting at every stroke of my current one. Painting is something I can't always control ... it comes without wanting it to.'

William Foyle

Still only 22, William is living up to his promise as one of the most exciting new talents to emerge in recent years. In October 2012 he held his first solo exhibition at Gallery 8 in St James's, London. The exhibition was a great success, attracting the attention of several national newspapers and garnering many admiring reviews, as well as being a near sell-out.

William has painted from an early age, taking lessons in life drawing at The Royal Academy in London and entering Edinburgh College of Art. After successful group exhibitions with Partridge Fine Art and The Air Gallery in London, William took the decision to base himself in London full time, although he regularly returns to paint in his studio in the Borders near Earlston. William's next solo exhibition will take place in December 2015 at The Royal College of Art in Kensington.

William is a restlessly creative soul, experimenting with many different mediums and styles, constantly searching for new ways to express his energies and emotions. This inventiveness has taken the form of monoprints and other types of printmaking, large-scale oil paintings, intimate portraits, charcoal studies and a series on Christ and the Crucifixion. His paintings are composed of confident and accomplished brushstrokes that form striking and highly original images which cannot fail to make an immediate impact on the viewer. One thing William will never do is follow the crowd and this is most definitely a talent worth watching.
