DELPHINE DE CASTELLANE
Delphine was born in Uccle, in 1962, and grew up in Brussels and Provence. Her father, a descendant of the Toulouse-Lautrec family, painted, and Delphine often drew as a child, later going to art school in Brussels. But it was not until she married and moved to Scotland in 1995 that painting really 'grabbed' her, and since then she has sketched and painted almost daily.
Delphine's watercolours and oils are inspired by the landscape around her and these tranquil scenes are often brought to life by the animals which inhabit them. Almost all of Delphine's work is painted directly, out of doors. It is quick and spontaneous so the same views can be captured many times in all the different lights and colours that the countryside offers.
Delphine's work is regularly exhibited, including at the Royal Scottish Academy, and she has undertaken eight solo shows, with her paintings hanging in many private collections throughout Scotland.
